The Eighteenth-Century Anthropocene and Biodiversity WSECS 2020 Colorado State University Fort Collins, CO February 14-15, 2020
WSECS (www.wsecs.org) invites proposals from all disciplines on the general topic of “The Eighteenth-Century Anthropocene and Biodiversity,” scheduled for Friday and Saturday of Presidents’ Day weekend, February 14-15, 2020. The Plenary Speaker is: Dr. Joyce Chaplin, Professor of Early American History at Harvard University. Dr. Chaplin teaches the histories of science, climate, colonialism, and environment. She is also an Affiliated Faculty Member in the Department of the History of Science and a Faculty Associate of the Harvard University Center for the Environment.
We encourage scholars from all disciplines, including the Sciences, History, Literature, Economics, and Art, to submit proposals related to the conference’s theme or any other aspect of the long eighteenth century in any geographical area. Panel proposals (including fully-formed panels) are due by September 1, 2019. Individual paper proposals are due by October 15, 2019.

Financial Awards (sponsored by Dr. Chaplin): The conference registration fees for six early-career, non-tenure-track scholars presenting papers and/or chairing panels at the meeting will be waived on a first-come-first-serve basis.
